Since playing Call of Duty: Warzone and streaming the game online, I have made some pretty awesome friends. For the most part, we all have fun and enjoy talking sh*t with each other.

I honestly don’t care if we win or lose but yeah, it does feel good when you win, when you know you’re getting better at the game or when teammates make a comment about how much better you’ve become. So, what’s the problem?

Cod Teammates

When it comes to just having fun, no one should care about the results or who plays like crap. That’s how I like to play most of the time. However, there are a few pet peeves I have when it comes to being more competitive and nothing to me is more aggravating right now than gamers who have absolutely no concept of what it means to be a GOOD TEAMMATE.

Being just an attacker, or attacking everything you see, DOES NOT make you a good teammate. It doesn’t even make you a great player. Your only mission is to get kills and no matter where you are on the map or how it affects the rest of the team, the only thing you care about is your K/D ratio.

What irks me most about most attackers is that they actually believe that makes them the leader and that everyone else on the team is only there to support the moves they make and assume to know what he or she is about to do without communicating a single intention.

Tell me if any of this sounds familiar…

a) Your entire team is about to die because you were in a 2v3 or 3v4 and “team leader” won’t or can’t save the day because they were too far away and too busy doing whatever the f*ck they wanted to do.

b) “Team leader” gets downed and wants you to stop everything you’re doing to come and save them even though it was their decision to leave the team in the first place.

c) “Team leader” gets upset and blames you because they died and you weren’t there to help but also blames you when you die because you weren’t close enough for them to save you.

d) “Team leader” wants to be the attacker but they’re actually no good at it. They don’t communicate and can’t kill anybody either.

I could go on and on with this selfish bullsh*t a$$ gameplay but my point here isn’t to talk trash so much as it is to get clarity on what a good teammate actually is.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I put together a small list of what it means to be a good teammate and I welcome any feedback and/or suggestions that would make this list even better.

What makes a good teammate?

  1. Know your role – You’re an attacker, support or a combination of the two. If you can’t kill sh*t, stop acting like you can. A good team leader will know what you can and cannot do. Follow their LEAD. Setup the position, flank the enemy, take your finger off the trigger when the enemy is too far – you’re only giving away your position – and be there to help kill or revive your teammates when they’re down. There’s absolutely no shame is supporting the better players if that’s what you need to do win. Which brings me to my next point.
  2. Play to win – If you’re the only one in the kill race – NEWS FLASH – it’s NOT a f*cking kill race. What sounds better? 2 kills and a Warzone Victory or 10 kills and a loss? If you said 10 kills and a loss, GO PLAY SOLOS – and fack yourself (no, not really). My first priority is to have fun but, as bad at the game as I may be, I do play for the win. Stay close to your team, have contingencies and flanking strategies in place and be prepared to revive or protect players when they’re down.
  3. Stop being so facking selfish – No matter how good you are, it’s a team eSport. ITS NOT ABOUT YOU. If your life is more important than working to save your team, don’t get upset when no one wants to save you. If you’re going to play like the team leader, BE THE FACKING TEAM LEADER. “I thought” or “I assumed” you would have gone here or followed me here is NOT the signs of a good or even competent leader. And if you don’t want to lead, but you don’t want to follow instructions and play together either, do us all a favor and uninstall the game.

Just my 2 sense. The wonderful thing about having my own opinion is that I could be wrong. If I am, I will tell you like I tell my kids, hit me with FACTS. Don’t just tell me I’m wrong. Be willing to shed some light on the subject and explain why your opinion is better than mine.

Go ahead, I’ll wait…

P.S. – And although most of this post has nothing to do with anyone specifically, this one goes out to all of my teammates who do this on a consistent basis – GO FIND YOUR OWN FACKING LOOT. Stop following me just to steal mine.

You know who you are – enjoy!
